Handcrafted from authentic reclaimed whiskey barrel staves, these unique wooden desk organisers are made using white oak barrels kindly supplied by Clonakilty Distillery in West Cork, Ireland. Designed for both function and character, they make an ideal gift for whiskey lovers, home offices, and anyone looking for a distinctive, sustainable desk accessory.
White oak barrel staves are traditionally fire-charred on the inside. During the whiskey-making process, this charring gives the whiskey its colour and develops flavour while filtering unwanted compounds. Once the barrels reach the end of their ageing life, the staves are carefully repurposed and handcrafted into one-of-a-kind desk organisers, giving the wood a new purpose.
Each organiser showcases the barrel’s natural history, with a weathered grey oak surface on top and subtle rust-coloured markings where the iron hoops once held the barrel together. The underside retains the original charred oak surface, which has been cleaned and sealed to prevent staining while preserving its authentic appearance.
The desk organiser includes three pen or pencil holes, a handy storage tray, and a phone slot. Two versions are available: one with a closed-ended phone slot and one with an open-ended slot, allowing your phone to stand upright or rest on its side as a docking station.
Each organiser can be personalised with a name or short message, making it a thoughtful personalised gift for birthdays, Father’s Day, office gifts, or whiskey enthusiasts.

At Wild Atlantic Wood my aim is to make quality handmade and unique products using wood from sustainable and well managed sources.
My main supplier of timber has both FSC and PEFC certifications and is also EUTR compliant.
I also make use of locally sourced wood from West Cork and along the Wild Atlantic coast of Ireland such as fallen branches and using wood from trees which have died due to natural causes like old age, storm damage, and insect attack and on occasion finding driftwood washed up on local beaches.
When packing orders for delivery my aim is to reduce unnecessary packaging by using padded envelopes for small items and use recyclable packaging materials such as clean used cardboard from local shops to make boxes and old newspaper for packing larger items. Over time I am reducing my use of plastic and keeping plastic and paper packing separate so they can be more easily recycled.
FSC® sets specific standards that have to be met by suppliers in the timber trade. PEFC is an umbrella brand incorporating different national certification schemes. The end goals of both bodies are the same. Both provide schemes to protect forests and ensure end users get the responsibly sourced timber they requested
The PEFC is an international, non-profit, non-governmental organization which promotes sustainable forest management through independent third party certification. It is considered the certification system of choice for small forest owners
The European Union Timber Regulation (EUTR) is one part ofthe EU’s FLEGT (Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade) Action Plan which is aimed at helping to stamp out illegal logging worldwide. The Regulationentered into force on 3rd March 2013 and it is directly applicable in all EU Member States.
